Do you love to bake? Is your current mixer getting burned out from overuse? Then you may want to consider the KitchenAid Mixer 600 series.
I've long been a fan of the KitchenAid mixer. My 5 quart KitchenAid has been one of my favorite kitchen tools for years because it does exactly what I need it to do, when I need it. When the professional 600 series was introduced, I had to take a closer look!
Kitchenaid Hand Mixer
The 600 is a lift-bowl type mixer, meaning that there is a lever on the right hand side of the mixer that lifts up, raising the bowl to the attachment. The head of the mixer is fixed, it does not tilt up like some other models do.
The motor is very strong, 575 watts, which is much larger than my current 325 watts. The stainless steel bowl is larger also, 6 quarts instead of my current 5 quart bowl.
Reviews have been mixed, with several people stating it is not possible to mix 14 cups of flour in the bowl as the company professes. Others have mentioned that when the motor gets hot, it stops. According to the owners manual this is a normal protection mechanism, and when the motor cools down it will work fine again. (I've never had this happen with my 5 quart KitchenAid.)
The KitchenAid Mixer 600 comes in a large variety of colors including deep blue steel, copper pearl, dark pewter, empire red, licorice (black), nickel pearl, onyx black (I'm not sure what the difference is between licorice and onyx black, you'll want to check each model in person), pearl metallic, white and caviar (this one also looks black to me).
Of course, like all other KitchenAid mixers, there are a large variety of attachments you can buy for your mixer. One of the attachments my husband and I are particularly fond of is the ice cream maker. It makes lovely ice cream, and best of all, we know what ingredients went into it!
Included with your KitchenAid Mixer 600 purchase is the wire whip, burnished flat beater, burnished "S" dough hook, stainless steel bowl and splatter shield.
There have been several references to the fact that you cannot put these burnished steel utensils in the dishwasher. This is not a problem for me since my 5 quart mixer included the "coated" mixing paddle and dough hook (which are dishwasher safe), but if you do buy the 600, be prepared to wash the dough hook and mixing paddle by hand. If you place these in the dishwasher even once, they will oxidize and blacken!
The 600 mixer has 10 speeds like my 5 quart mixer, and many people have complimented the "Soft Start" feature, which prevents splatters when starting your machine.
Prices for the mixer range from 0 to 0, although you may be able to find some sales to help your bottom line.
The KitchenAid Mixer 600 has some very nice features. Another benefit of buying KitchenAid is that if you ever have a problem, you'll receive excellent assistance from their customer service department.
