I bet when you see someone wearing a Movado Museum watch, you recognize it, immediately, but did you know that there was a Movado watch company...long before there was a Movado Museum watch? As a matter of fact, Movado, wasn't even named "Movado" until years after young Achilles Ditesheim, founder of the Swiss watch company built his very first stop watch. This company has had multiple transformations, over the years, but from the earliest time, they have remained quality Swiss craftsmen.
What has become of the watches which were produced back when there was no Museum watch? Well, you can locate many vintage, collectible Movado timepieces, and in good condition. One example of these rare watches is the Movado Chronoplan, circa 1940. This highly collectible piece is a certified chronometer, complete with a rotating bezel. It was designed with a stainless-steel case and dial. The dial is two toned and features hand painted hour markings and indexes. The arms on this vintage piece are in blue steel. The watch actually is fitted with two rotating bezels, and inner and outer version. The dial also offers a small seconds window at the 6 o'clock setting. The watch is stamped Movado Chronometer on the dial, the case, and the movement. The movement is a 15 jeweled hand wound mechanical, made in the Movado factory. The terms being used, such as dual rotating bezel, stainless-steel casing, and certified chronometer are not usual descriptors of Movado's, today. It seems as though as soon as the Museum watch came along, we decided that Movado was simply a fashion watch company, but that is just not so.
